‘This is a time for extreme caution’: OpenAI chief scientist warns of rapid rise in AI intelligence
US artificial intelligence firm OpenAI’s chief scientist Jakub Pachocki has sounded a warning over accelerating pace of artificial intelligence and said “no one is prepared” for consequences of rapidly-rising machine intelligence.
In a post titled ‘an alien mind’, Pachocki said he expects and hopes for voluntary slowdowns to become commonplace until shared safety bars are established. Pachocki further emphasised that international coordination on future AI development needs to become a top priority for governments around the world.
