Supreme Court grants YouTuber relief, suspends six-month sentence in contempt case

The Supreme Court on Thursday suspended the six-month simple imprisonment of YouTuber Gushan Pahuja for his remarks against the judiciary and directed his release with a warning that the interim protection could be revoked if he repeats the offence.

A bench of Justice Dipankar Datta and Justice Sheel Nagu passed the order while dealing with an appeal filed by Pahuja challenging a Delhi High Court division bench order of May 16, which convicted and sentenced him to six months’ imprisonment for uploading videos on YouTube in which he allegedly slammed the judiciary for alleged dictatorship. He had commented that no justice can be expected from the Indian judiciary.
