AI regulatory regime should be nimble, not over-constraining: Top PM advisor

NEW DELHI: The regulatory framework for artificial intelligence (AI) should be agile and must not over-constrain innovation, but should have a cautious approach, said a top advisor to the Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

“The AI regulations should be nimble and not over-constraining, but at the same time, there should be a cautious approach. Recently, the IT Act 2021 has been modified and updated through a notification from the Ministry of Electronics & IT (MeitY) to take care of all the risks that can come from AI,” India’s Principal Scientific Advisor Ajay Sood told ET.
