Nvidia may invest up to $3 billion in SoftBank’s SB Energy for OpenAI data center: Report
Jensen Huang-led Nvidia is reportedly in talks to invest as much as $3 billion in SB Energy, a SoftBank Group subsidiary developing a massive planned Ohio data center project for OpenAI, reports The Information citing people familiar with the discussions. As per the report, the proposed investment is part of Nvidia’s talks with OpenAI and SB Energy on providing around $100 billion in credit support for the planned Ohio data center campus. It further states that the chip maker has discussed investing half of $3 billion in the project once the deal is signed. The remaining half will be tied to SB Energy’s planned initial public offering.
The SB Energy firm is backed by ChatGPT-maker OpenAI. It is planning to go public in September this year, and is expected to raise at least $5 billion in the IPO, the report added.
