OpenAI may struggle to survive beyond the next two years, a Google DeepMind engineer shared a post, quoting Ed Zitron’s 2024 article predicting OpenAI’s potential collapse. Brian Huang, a research engineer at DeepMind recently shared a Twitter post accompanied by a screenshot of Ed Zitron’s list predicting OpenAI’s collapse unless it met five key conditions. These included navigating its Microsoft partnership, raising unprecedented capital, and achieving massive cost reductions plus novel use cases for its models. OpenAI CEO Sam Altman responded to the post saying he “would rather be an optimist and work hard than a pessimist posting about why things won’t work”.
