Payment costs must be borne by someone, Reserve Bank governor says on UPI charges
RBI governor Sanjay Malhotra on Wednesday struck a cautious note on the debate over possible charges on digital payments, saying it was premature to comment as the government was still working on the proposed amendments to the law.
“Right now the government is still carrying out the amendment. The costs have to be paid by someone. We all want that this public infrastructure should continue to strengthen and become more efficient. Let’s wait and watch…,” said Malhotra.
