Airtel widens value lead over Jio with premiumisation push

Bharti Airtel widened its lead over Reliance Jio on key value metrics in the June quarter, with its sustained premiumisation strategy receiving a further boost from the recently launched Fastlane offering that is accelerating upgrades to higher-value postpaid plans.

Airtel reported an average revenue per user (Arpu) of Rs 264 in the June quarter, up Rs 7 or 2.7% sequentially. In comparison, Jio’s Arpu rose to Rs 215.6 from Rs 214 in the March quarter, an increase of Rs 1.6 or 0.7%.
