WhatsApp tests privacy-protective age verification in India, says user data won’t be shared

WhatsApp is testing privacy-protective ways for users in India to confirm their age as it prepares to comply with upcoming regulations, including the Digital Personal Data Protection (DPDP) Act.

The Meta-owned messaging platform said the test is optional, will not change the user experience, and that age-related information will remain private and will not be visible to other users.
