Ericsson appoints Randeep Raina as head of Vodafone Idea customer unit

Swedish telecom gear maker Ericsson on Wednesday said it has appointed Randeep Raina as the head of the customer unit for Vodafone Idea (Vi).

“In his new role, Randeep will lead Ericsson’s engagement towards Vi, working closely with the service provider to support its network evolution and accelerate the delivery of next-generation connectivity solutions,” Ericsson said in a statement.

Raina joins Ericsson with more than 27 years of experience across technology, sales, strategy, and business development.

He will be based in Mumbai, reporting to Andres Vicente, CEO (market area Southeast Asia, Oceania and India), Ericsson.

Raina, who will also be a member of the regional leadership team, succeeds Krishna Patil.

Patil has been appointed as an executive advisor to Vicente.

Prior to joining Ericsson, Raina served as head of telco and strategic partnerships at Google India and previously held the role of chief technology and strategy officer at Nokia Networks India.

“With his extensive leadership experience, strategic vision, and customer-first mindset, I am confident Randeep will play a pivotal role in further deepening our partnership with Vi and support its network evolution ambitions,” said Vicente.

Ericsson and Vi have a long-term strategic partnership in the wireless, or radio access network (RAN) domain and telecom software.

Most recently, Vi expanded its collaboration with Ericsson by selecting the vendor’s cloud-native charging solution to modernise its postpaid services, while continuing to strengthen its 4G and 5G network footprint through network augmentation, capacity expansion, and AI-powered operations.
