Hugging Face CEO calls for accountability after OpenAI hack

New York: The chief executive of Hugging Face said Friday that developers should be held accountable if their AI models go rogue, after his startup faced a recent cyberattack by autonomous OpenAI software.

In mid-July, two OpenAI models escaped their confined testing environment and gained access to the internet, where they found and attacked Hugging Face, a site that AI developers use to store and share code.

OpenAI apparently only became aware of the incident after it was over, while Hugging Face managed to contain the intrusion thanks to a Chinese model.
