Tech giants Google, Amazon, Microsoft and Meta have cumulatively poured more than $1 trillion into capital investments since the race for artificial intelligence (AI) dominance kicked off three and a half years ago. The spending spree, however, is beginning to rattle Wall Street as free cash flow drops to lows and timeline expectations stretch out for years, as per a report by The Financial Times. According to earnings reports released over the past two weeks, combined capital expenditure across the four hyperscalers reached $1.1 trillion between the start of the AI boom in 2023 and the end of June.
