Robinhood CEO Vlad Tenev provides update on X account hack

Robinhood CEO Vlad Tenev said on Tuesday that a hacker who posted fake content about a memecoin on his X account last week ‌used ⁠social engineering ⁠to bypass security guardrails.

The hack, which took place on July 23, was used to promote a token called “Vladhood” on Tenev’s account. The account was fully restored, ⁠and the ‌post was taken down later that day.

“A fraudster ⁠socially engineered X customer support to ​gain access, bypassing standard security ​features like 2FA and login notifications…,” Tenev said in a post on X.
