No TV ratings agency registered under new policy yet; viewership data unlikely to resume soon, says govt
The government said on Friday no television ratings agency has yet been registered under the Television Ratings Policy, 2026, indicating that the resumption of television viewership data is unlikely in the near term despite the Kerala High Court vacating its stay on the policy’s “landing-page” provision.
Minister of state for information and broadcasting L Murugan said, in a written reply in the Rajya Sabha, that any entity engaged in television ratings must comply with the additional requirements prescribed under the new policy and obtain registration before offering its services.
