Chinese smartphone makers hit six-year low in India in 2Q26; Apple shipments also fall: Counterpoint
NEW DELHI: The cumulative volume share of Chinese smartphone vendors hit a six-year low in the Indian market in the second quarter of 2026, due to their heavy exposure to the entry- and mid-tier segments, as component cost-driven price hikes impacted consumer demand, said Counterpoint Research in its latest report released Friday.
This marked the lowest level for a second calendar quarter since 2020.
Despite being ranked first, Vivo’s share declined from 19.2% in Q2 2025 to 17.8% in Q2 2026. Second-ranked South Korean Samsung, on the contrary, saw a 2% year-on-year growth, while its share grew from 15.5% to 17.6% during this period.
