Bengal higher secondary council bars phone use by students during school hours

The state higher secondary council has barred students from bringing or using mobile phones in government and aided schools.

The ban will be in force during school hours — including classroom teaching, examinations, assemblies and other academic activities — the council said in a notice.

The July 17 notice from the council president addressed to heads of institutions says: “Students may be advised not to bring or use mobile phones during school hours, including during classroom teaching… except under exceptional circumstances with the prior permission of the head of the institution.”
