TRAI likely to tweak regulation for spam data sharing by call management apps soon

The ongoing row between TRAI and Truecaller has brought into sharp focus the regulator’s proposed amendments to the Telecom Commercial Communications Customer Preference Regulations (TCCCPR), which would among various provisions, require call management apps to share user-reported spam information with telcos.

The tweaks to TCCCPR — the regulations governing commercial communications — could be finalised soon, possibly over the coming few weeks, according to people familiar with the matter.
