Meta’s Muse triggers privacy row over public image use on Instagram by AI tool

Meta has landed itself in a fresh privacy row after launching Muse Image, a new artificial intelligence tool developed by the company’s Superintelligence Labs.

It comes with a feature that allows users to reimagine themselves or others in scenes drawn from public Instagram photos.

The rollout sparked debate because adult users with public accounts were automatically enrolled in the feature without being asked for explicit permission.
