Centre removes BAT-BMS apps after reports of remote e-rickshaw shutdowns

The Central government has directed the removal of two mobile applications linked to the BAT-BMS battery management system from major app stores after reports claimed they could be used to remotely shut down e-rickshaws. The decision follows concerns over public safety after videos circulating on social media showed users allegedly switching off nearby e-rickshaws through Bluetooth connectivity.

According to officials, the apps were removed as a precautionary measure while authorities investigate their capabilities and potential misuse.
