Supreme Court warns against AI ‘hallucinations’ after NCLT relied on fake precedents

The Supreme Court on Thursday struck down a National Company Law Tribunal (NCLT) order after discovering that it relied on fabricated judicial precedents believed to have been generated using artificial intelligence (AI). Calling the issue a serious threat to the justice delivery system, the court emphasised that AI can assist legal processes but cannot replace human verification in judicial decision-making.
