Silicon photonics solutions to cut data center energy consumption, enable network scale-up: CloudPhotonix
NEW DELHI: Silicon photonics-based solutions can reduce energy consumption and provide a means for enabling high-bandwidth fibre optic networks in data centers, at a time when the industry is seeing an artificial intelligence (AI)-driven boom, according to a top executive of homegrown CloudPhotonix.
“Major Indian and global data center operators expanding in India are actively evaluating high-speed optical solutions. India’s average PUE (power usage effectiveness) is often estimated around ~1.4–1.7 in many facilities, compared with best-in-class global hyperscale facilities approaching ~1.2,” Tarun Sibal, co-founder & CEO, CloudPhotonix, told ETDatacenters in an interview.
