Lower 6GHz delicensing: TP-Link India commences local manufacturing of Wi-Fi 7 gear

NEW DELHI: TP-Link India on Monday said it has commenced domestic manufacturing of its Wi-Fi 7 portfolio, making it one of the first global vendors to undertake such an initiative.

This follows the Department of Telecommunications’ (DoT) notification in January this year, which decliensed the lower 6GHz spectrum band, paving the way for newer Wi-Fi technologies, including Wi-Fi 7.

The Ministry of Communications notified rules exempting low-power indoor and very-low-power outdoor wireless access systems, including Wi-Fi, operating in the lower 6GHz band from licensing requirements.
