India’s patent application filings increase 30% to 1.43 lakh in FY26: S Krishnan
NEW DELHI: India filed 1.43 lakh patent applications in the fiscal year 2026, with the electronics and IT sector contributing nearly 52%, said S Krishnan, secretary, Ministry of Electronics and IT (MeitY).
“India today stands at a defining moment in its innovation journey towards the vision of Viksit Bharat. In FY 2024–25, India crossed a historic milestone with 1,10,375 patent applications filed, with the Electronics and IT sector contributing nearly 44% of these filings,” Krishnan said.
