US agency says Chinese drones, routers can get software updates through 2028

WASHINGTON: The U.S. Federal Communications Commission said on Tuesday it will allow Chinese drones and consumer routers sold in the United States to get critical software updates at least through the end of 2028.

The FCC in recent months banned the import of new models of Chinese drones and routers as Washington has cracked down on Chinese ‌tech companies for ⁠reasons ⁠of national security, fearing cyber intrusions.
