Application window opens for ICANN’s latest gTLD programme

NEW DELHI: The Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN) said on Friday that the application window has opened for the latest generic top-level domain (gTLD) programme.

The non-profit organisation coordinates the Internet’s Domain Name System (DNS). gTLDs, are the part of a web address after the last dot.

For the first time in over 10 years, businesses, communities, governments, and other organisations will have the opportunity to operate with unique gTLDs, such as .brand, .city, or .industry.
