Can Netflix afford to skip ads in India any longer?

When streaming platforms launched in India many moons ago, a major draw they offered was ad-free streaming.

But ads, which many viewed as pesky, returned soon enough, and found their way onto most platforms from JioHotstar to Sony LIV to Zee5. A major holdout was Amazon Prime Video, which finally gave in last year and introduced advertising on all tiers except a new ad-free tier it launched over and above its standard Prime subscription plan.
