Meet John Ternus: The Apple insider taking over as CEO from Tim Cook

Tech giant Apple announced on Monday that long-time CEO Tim Cook will be stepping down from his role to transtition to executive chairman of the company’s board of directors, and John Ternus, senior vice president of Hardware Engineering will take over as the CEO starting September 1, 2026.

He will bring more than two decades of experience at the company, most of it spent building the hardware that defines Apple’s products.
