Motorola seeks takedown of social media reviews for alleged defamatory content
NEW DELHI: In a first in India, Motorola Mobility has filed a civil defamation suit against social media platforms and over a dozen tech creators and bloggers, seeking permanent injunction and takedown of content targeting its smartphones.
In a 69-page suit filed in the Principal City Civil and Sessions Court, Bengaluru, the Chinese-owned company said a large volume of content across various social media platforms falsely and maliciously allege that its phones catch fire and explode and actively advise consumers not to buy its products. YouTube, Instagram, X and Facebook are included as defendants in the suit along with several content creators.
