Four-day week, taxes on robots, public wealth fund: OpenAI floats policy ideas for the intelligence age

OpenAI on Monday released a new policy paper on the “intelligence age”, with a four-day workweek at the centre of its vision for how society should share the gains from artificial intelligence (AI).

As per the paper, the company says employers and unions should run time-bound pilots of a 32-hour workweek with no loss in pay, while keeping output and service levels unchanged. They can then consider converting reclaimed hours into a permanent shorter week or bankable paid time off.
