Trump administration considering expanding Chinese tech gear crackdown

WASHINGTON: The Federal Communications Commission said Friday it is considering banning the import of Chinese equipment from a ‌group ⁠of ⁠manufacturers after previously barring approvals of new models in 2022.

The FCC in 2021 added telecommunications and video surveillance equipment produced by ⁠Huawei, ZTE, ‌Hytera, Hikvision and Dahua to its ⁠so-called “Covered List”.
