CAG report flags Airtel delays in rural connectivity project, highlights BSNL mismanagement

NEW DELHI: A Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) report has flagged Airtel for delays in a public project and noted that the government failed to strictly enforce penalties, leading to incomplete work and financial loss.

According to the report released on Thursday, Airtel failed to complete 756 planned mobile tower sites on time, with only 431 operational by April 2021. Even after revising the target to 562 sites, 124 sites remained incomplete as of April 2025.
