Tech hiring slips 8% in April, reversing early 2026 gains

BENGALURU: India’s tech hiring market opened the new fiscal year on a weaker note, as active job openings fell 8%month on month in April 2026, according to Xpheno’s Active Tech Jobs Outlook India April 2026.

The report said active tech openings stood at 110,000 in April, reversing the gains seen in 2026 and bringing demand back close to February levels. “Indian Tech sector’s active talent demand has dropped by 8% compared to the previous month, to have a moderated start to the new Fiscal 2027,” the report said.
