Amazon is taking its ‘big fight’ with Elon Musk’s SpaceX to skies with this partnership
Amazon has signed a deal with Delta Airlines to provide in-flight Wi-Fi through its Leo satellite network. This announcement marks a significant move by the e-commerce giant in the space industry as it competes with Elon Musk’s SpaceX Starlink for aviation customers. In an official announcement, Amazon has confirmed that Delta will begin installing the company’s Leo in-flight satellite internet service on 500 aircraft from 2028, with the service rolling out across hundreds more planes in the years that follow.
The deal comes as Amazon faces a considerable gap to close against SpaceX. Starlink, which operates more than 9,000 satellites in low Earth orbit, has moved quickly into the aviation market.
