Amid layoffs, Mark Zuckerberg’s Meta is asking engineers to use AI for…
Meta isn’t just talking about going “AI-native”—it’s putting numbers on it. Internal documents reviewed by Business Insider reveal that the company has set specific targets for how much of its engineers’ code should be written with AI assistance, with some teams expected to hit as high as 75%. The push comes as Meta lays off hundreds of employees and doubles down on artificial intelligence across its operations.
The targets vary by division. Meta’s creation org—the team behind core experiences like Messenger, WhatsApp, and Facebook—has set a first-half 2026 goal requiring 65% of its engineers to write more than 75% of their committed code using AI coding tools.
