AI use standoff: Pentagon gives Anthropic until Friday to comply
The US Defense Department has given Anthropic until Friday to agree to unrestricted military use of its technology. If the AI company doesn’t comply, it will have to allow the Pentagon unrestricted use under emergency federal powers, according to an AFP report.
Pete Hegseth, the US defence secretary, vowed to remove Anthropic from his agency’s supply chain if the company declined to allow its AI technology for military applications, the BBC reported on Tuesday.
The threat was given during a meeting between Hegseth and Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei, which was conducted to resolve the month-long dispute between the two.
