AI must be a leap forward, not a divide: UN’s Amandeep Singh Gill at India AI Impact Summit

Developing countries must treat artificial intelligence (AI) as a transformative opportunity while ensuring it does not deepen global inequalities, said Amandeep Singh Gill, under-secretary-general and special envoy for digital and emerging technologies at the United Nations (UN).

Speaking on the sidelines of the IndiaAI Impact Summit ahead of the dinner hosted by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday, he praised the scale and diversity of participation at the event, describing it as the first summit of its kind in the global south.
