India AI Impact Summit 2026: Centre seeks to make every citizen AI-ready, says Pemmasani

NEW DELHI: The Centre is prioritising to connect every village with high-speed internet, and make every citizen artificial intelligence (AI)-ready, said Minister of State for Communications Chandra Sekhar Pemmasani on Tuesday.

“Our priority has always been unambiguous – connect every village. Make every citizen AI-ready. Our fastest 5G rollout, fiberisation of over 70% of towers, and $17 billion investment in last-mile initiatives like BharatNet are not mere upgrades. They are instruments of nation-building,” Pemmasani said on the second day of the ongoing India AI Impact Summit 2026.
