Don’t fear AI, prepare for it: Modi says skills are the answer to AI job fears
Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday sought to allay concerns over the impact of artificial intelligence on employment, asserting that the government is proactively investing in large-scale skilling and re-skilling initiatives to prepare Indians for an AI-driven future.
Addressing apprehensions that rapid advances in AI could displace jobs, the Prime Minister said fear often stems from a lack of preparedness. He stressed that the government’s focus is on equipping the workforce, particularly the youth, with the skills required to adapt to emerging technologies rather than resisting change. According to him, technology-led transitions have historically created new opportunities, provided societies invest early in human capital.
