US chipmaker KLA to invest ₹3,600 cr in Tamil Nadu for global R&D campus, signs MoU with state government

US-based semiconductor firm KLA on Friday signed a memorandum of understanding with the Tamil Nadu government to invest $400 million (around ₹3,600 crore) to set up a global research and development and innovation campus in Chennai, the state industries minister said. The proposed 12-acre facility is expected to create up to 4,000 high-skilled jobs and will focus on advanced research in high-performance computing, process control engineering software and AI-driven semiconductor innovation.

“KLA, which is one of the BIG 3 in Semiconductor manufacturing design and R&D, has today signed an MoU with Guidance Tamil Nadu to invest $400 million (about Rs. 3,600 crore), to establish its global R&D and Innovation Campus in Chennai,” said Dr T R B Rajaa in a post on X.
