TRAI issues notices to over 7.31 lakh telemarketers, restricts 5.6 lakh entities to curb spam
NEW DELHI: The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) issued over 7.31 lakh notices to unregistered telemarketers (UTMs) violating the unsolicited commercial communication (UCC) norms, while 4.73 lakh entities were subjected to one-month communication restrictions, as part of efforts to curb pesky messages and calls and enhance subscriber experience, according to the data released by the the Ministry of Communications on Friday.
89,936 repeat offenders faced six-month communication caps, and 1.84 lakh telecom resources were disconnected during the year for continued non-compliance.
