ChatGPT-maker OpenAI launches Teen Safety Blueprint for India, focuses on ‘safety’ over ‘privacy’

At a time when AI companies are under pressure to offer safe chatbot conversation experiences to kids, OpenAI, the company behind ChatGPT, has released safety blueprint for teens in India. The company emphasises that it aims to keep safety over privacy for younger users. “We’re taking steps to strengthen protections for Indian teens through age prediction, age-appropriate policies, and parental controls, informed by conversations with policymakers, regulators, educators, and child safety experts, as well as mental health and digital well-being practitioners,” the company says in the report.

According to OpenAI, the new protections come in addition to features already available for all users.
