Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella recently announced senior leadership changes aimed at strengthening two areas the company has flagged as priorities: security and engineering quality. In an internal memo shared with employees, Nadella said Microsoft is appointing a new executive to lead security efforts and creating a dedicated role to focus on engineering quality across the company. The move comes as Microsoft continues to scale its cloud, AI, and enterprise businesses, where product reliability, secure systems, and consistent performance have become central to customer trust.

As part of the changes, Nadella has brought back a former Microsoft executive to lead the company’s security organisation and has asked a long-time engineering leader to take on what he described as a focused role on quality.
