In an interview with Forbes recently, Altman, who became a parent in February 2025, said the growing legal scrutiny around OpenAI forced him to rethink how much of his private life he puts on record. The issue has gained attention as OpenAI prepares for a potential IPO and continues to fight a high-profile lawsuit filed by Elon Musk, a co-founder who later left the company.

During the interview, Altman said he initially wrote letters to his son to document major moments in his life and work.
