Bharti Airtel eyes 25% share in India’s data centre market

Mumbai: Bharti Airtel plans to ramp up its data centre market share, aiming to scale capacity to about 1 gigawatt (GW) in the next three to four years from its current 120-130 megawatts (MW) after ending the December quarter with a 25.5% year-on-year profit growth.

The company now targets a 25% market share in India’s data centre sector that is projected to hit 1 GW overall.

“Our sense is that in the next three to four years, this will become about a gigawatt-type market. And we will have about a gigawatt capacity, which will give us about 25% share,” said Gopal Vittal, MD and CEO of the company, in the quarterly earnings call.
