India eyes open, resilient internet: Krishnan

NEW DELHI: India aspires to have an open, resilient, and inclusive internet ecosystem for more than 100 crore users, as more citizen-centric services and applications go online, said a senior official of the Ministry of Electronics and IT (MeitY) on Thursday.

“India is interested in an open, resilient, and inclusive internet,” said S Krishnan, secretary, MeitY, during a press conference here.

He stated that the internet was left largely unregulated earlier, as governments and industry sought to bring more people online. By contrast, internet networks have grown substantially today, becoming the “plumbing” – or the foundation – of various sectors, including financial services.
