OpenAI CEO Sam Altman has announced that the company’s much-discussed ‘head of preparedness’ role advertised in December last year with a base salary of up to $555,000 a year has now been filled. The position went to Dylan Scandinaro, a former member of the AI safety team at rival company Anthropic. Altman took to social media platform X (formerly known as Twitter) to share the update. Altman welcomed Scadinaro and mentioned that he will be tasked with ensuring OpenAI’s systems are developed and deployed safely, while preparing for the risks posed by increasingly powerful AI models.
