Union Budget 2026-27: Centre to launch ISM 2.0, increases ECMS outlay to ₹40,000-crore, says Nirmala Sitharaman
NEW DELHI: Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman on Sunday said the Central government will launch the India Semiconductor Mission (ISM) 2.0 to incentivise the production of equipment and materials, design full-stack Indian IP, and fortify supply chains.
“ISM 1.0 expanded India’s semiconductor sector capabilities. Building on this, we will launch ISM 2.0 to produce equipment and materials, design full-stack Indian IP, and fortify supply chains. We will also focus on industry-led research and training centres to develop technology and a skilled workforce,” Sitharaman said, presenting the Union Budget 2026-27.
