KM Birla calls SC AGR ruling ‘decisive turning point’, lays out new road map for Voda Idea

For Vodafone Idea, India’s most debt-laden telecom company, a long period of uncertainty has finally begun to ease, with the recent SC judgment on AGR liabilities, combined with government intervention, altering its operating landscape and opening the door to a possible turnaround, Aditya Birla Group Chairman Kumar Mangalam Birla said on January 28.

Calling the ruling a “decisive turning point”, Birla said the clarity provided by the apex court had removed years of ambiguity that had kept the business locked in survival mode. With that fog lifting, Vodafone Idea can now begin to focus on sustainable growth rather than day-to-day existence, he added.
