GST cut drives shift to big-screen TVs, 43-inch-plus now two-thirds of sales

Kolkata: Indians now want TV sets – and discounts – as big as they come. The reduction in goods and services tax (GST) on large-screen televisions since September 22 has boosted sales of 43-inch and above TV sets such that the category made up two-thirds of the total market in the previous quarter.

That compares with just about half in January-March 2025, data shared exclusively with ET by market tracker Counterpoint Research showed.
