Google DeepMind co-founder and chief AGI scientist Shane Legg shares hiring post for his team; Elon Musk responds with a suggestion

Google DeepMind co-founder and chief AGI scientist Shane Legg recently shared a hiring post on X (formerly known as Twitter) stating AGI is approaching and could bring major changes to the global economy. In the post, Legg said he is looking to hire a senior economist to study how economies may change after the arrival of AGI. “AGI is now on the horizon and it will deeply transform many things, including the economy,” he wrote adding “I’m currently looking to hire a Senior Economist, reporting directly to me, to lead a small team investigating post-AGI economics”.

The post drew responses from several users, including Tesla and SpaceX CEO Elon Musk.
