Senator says Congress must investigate TikTok deal, faults lack of details

Democratic Senator Ed Markey said on Friday Congress should investigate a ⁠deal by TikTok’s Chinese owner ByteDance to establish a majority American-owned joint venture that would secure US data in a bid to avoid a US ban on the social media app.

Markey said the deal, ‌finalised on ‌Thursday, left many key questions unanswered.
